I woke to put in place the plans I'd thought through during the night. Pegasus needed to rest, so we'd get a bus to the next town, walk to the campsite and chill for the remainder of the day. We'd get a bus back the day after, then walk the next stretch of the Coastal Path.

But this was not to be! It was clear quite quickly that Pegasus was not walking into town and catching a bus. After a bit of revising how to use public telephones, which caused me a little distress, I ordered a 'dog friendly' taxi, with a non-stop talking driver, to take us to the next campsite on my list. Now well acquainted with the driver's work and love life we arrived safely. What a wise choice! We were welcomed by a quirky lady with a dog who shadowed Pegasus in stature. She was friendly and unconditional in her hospitality. Our pitch was perfect; away from anyone, with an awesome uninterrupted view of the coast.

We spent the remainder of the day resting, reading and writing. (I still hadn't solved the issue of charging my phone.) I found a shady spot for a recuperating dog to chill and laid next to him. Pegasus agreed to a travel towel over his head to distract the pesky flies!

By the time I took this photo, Pegasus had worked out if he laid on his right ear, the flies weren't interested in him!

I watched him snooze and knew I couldn't expect him to walk along the Coast Path any more. Our adventure together was over. He needed to go home. This loud, manky (in parts) old dog looked at me with a faithful heart; his soul wants to walk to Bude but has toes can't.
